200 Year Old Farm

April 30, 2022

In the early 1790s, my 4th great grandparents Charles Elliott and Jane Lee emigrated from Donegal, Ireland with their first born child and Jane’s parents Hugh Lee and Mary Elliott. Pennsylvania was a common destination for immigrants from Scotland and Ireland at that time. And Washington County, PA is where my ancestors first made their home in the newly independent America.

Charles and Jane would go on to have seven more children born in America, including my 3rd great grandfather Andrew Elliott. (Andrew would marry Rebecca Melick in 1829.)

The Family eventually moved to Ohio and in 1814, received a deed for 160 acres of land to start a farm. That farm would grow to 285 acres today and continues to be run by the descendants of Charles and Jane.

In 2014, an article was written about the farm.
